About
Us:
Urban
Wildlife is a non-profit organization founded in
2001. Urban Wildlife cares for injured and orphaned
wildlife that are returned to the wild when
healthy. The rehabilitation process can take
anywhere from a few weeks to a year.
Urban
wildlife provides food, shelter and medical care to
small mammals such as squirrels, rabbits, raccoons,
muskrats, skunks, Opossums and others native to
Massachusetts. Urban wildlife has wildlife
rehabilitators in 3 locations: Springfield,
Chicopee and Westhampton.
We
Need You!
In
about a month Urban Wildlife will begin stocking
supplies for the spring season.
We
urgently need your
help
in order to prepare for the wildlife that will will
be arriving soon. Last year we used 25 five pound
containers of Esbilac (a total cost of $1250.00) to
feed very young ophaned animals. This year we
expect to use as much or more. We also need to
purchase important medical supplies for these
animals. If we don't increase our funds, we will be
forced to turn away animals in need when the phones
start ringing in March....When this happens you can
be sure that many of these poor creatures will
simply die or be euthanized by animal control
officials.
It
really is terrible to have to answer the calls and
say we simply don't have the money or supplies to
rescue any more animals.

In
our first year we rehabilitated over 80 small
mammels. For the year 2002, the number of animals
cared for by Urban Wildlife reached 229. In 2003,
Urban Wildlife rescued
335
small mammels.
Urban
Wildlife receives no state or federal funding and
relies entirely on donations. Urban Wildlife is
very important because the animals that come to our
facility have no other place to go.
Please
help us help the wildlife of Massachusetts. There
are many ways that individuals, schools and clubs
can help. We have education programs, projects, a
wish
list,
and of course, cash donations are always
accepted.
In
addition, we are looking for 'host families' for
wildlife release.
Please
call Urban Wildlife for more
information.
